In 2014 a friend invited me to the Winnipeg Folk Festival<\/a>. Little did I know of what an incredible experience I was in for. The performances, the venue, the food!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What stirred me were the amazing jam sessions. From Russia with Seoul – Jaron Freeman-Fox and the Opposite of Everything<\/em>, Geomungo Factory<\/em>, & Namgar<\/em>. Uke Nation – James Hill & Anne Janelle<\/em>, and Jake Shimabukuro.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other acts of interest: Boy & Bear<\/em>, and Elephant Revival<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unforgettable moment: In the Folk School tent with Jaron Freeman-Fox and the Opposite of Everyth<\/em>ing when the skies opened up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It`s a ‘funny’ story to tell now<\/em>: Mosquitoes at the campground.<\/p>\n\n\n

We returned in 2017. What I learned from the previous trip was not to try to get everything in, but to chill. Having a camp chair this time helped too. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Music discoveries: Margaret Glaspy<\/em>, Paul McKenna<\/em>, Bon D\u00e9barra<\/em>, Jonah Blacksmith<\/em>, and Foy Vance<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

High point: The Choir! Choir! Choir!<\/em> sing-along of Lovers in a Dangerous Time<\/a><\/em> with Bruce Cockburn<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2020 festival was sidelined by the COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately a virtual taste of the festival was prepared to tide us over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
