It’s been a while since I’ve posted regarding the home build project. The floor plans were done, trees cleared, access-way created and a well installed. By late fall, nothing else. Contractors and suppliers seemed to be too busy with other work. I took the winter to re-evaluate options for construction in the spring.
During that time a few things have changed. At the end of November the estimate for electrical service poles came in and was much higher than anticipated, enough that I decided to go solar. The frame construction has been modified to maximize insulation values. Due to contractor concerns with large vehicle access for a concrete foundation, I’m going back to helical screw piles.
Yesterday morning, the septic contractor came out to dig a test pit.

Last week, I ordered a solar system. It should arrive in two weeks.
So despite river still being frozen, spring is in the air and things are starting to happen!
